Malibu nameplate in 1997 for its Corsica replacement, but the car was destined for rental fleets

General Motors has once again avoided a strike at its Fairfax production facility in Kansas City,
Kansas. Earlier this week GM and the UAW agreed to a two day extension on labor talks, and the UAW
has once again agreed to another extension.
According to the Associated Press, the UAW will give GM a 12-hour

| Identifying a Malibu 400... - RED7D

Hi, about my 1970 Chevelle. The car would be considered a clone, big block hood, stripes, etc. In
all actuality, like so many others it is a Chevelle 'Malibu'. I have no build sheet, just the serial
and cowl tag.
The engine is non original, the trans is a turbo four dated 1969. When I acquired the car it had a
non numbers matching big block, and the same T400 trans.
I was curious if this car may have been a Malibu 400 originally, or a 'Heavy Chevy' of some type.
The reason I ask that is because certain features of the car look thirty plus years old. It has the
round faced gauged dash, that looks about that age. Plus, it's 'on the tree' and the gear selector
is incorporated into the round faced dash. I know this could have been a 'Carlo' dash, but I don't
see any evidence of fills where the wood insert is fastened.
On the floor down by the gas pedal is the trademark electric kick down switch for a turbo 400, which
looks like it has been there for 30 plus years as well. It is non functional, and not even hooked up...

I have owned this car for 21 Years now. am the second owner. It had 108,000 on the ticker and now
has over 480,000 on her. Last summer I pulled the Original 350 2bbl and th350 tranny (rebuilt 3
times and tranny 2 times) and converted her to a 383 Stroker with 450hp and a 700R4 with an Eaton
3:08 Posi. Dual exaust with a 74 dual hump crossmember. 80mph is at 1900 rpm and gets 21mph, (if I
can keep my foot out of her) {still have original motor/tranny/rearend}
Havent tracked her but she will beats, by 1.5 cl, neighbors 2005 BMW E46 M3 and they run 12.8 at
108.
Entire suspension is rebuilt and Poly bushings. and complete brake system was done at the time also.
(even the pedal pad)
For the last 10 years I have been aquiring NOS parts to restor her. The interior is completely
redone NOS and the dash has NO cracks.(took 8 years to find the NOS dash)
I have redone the landau vinal top about 4 years ago and is still new.
I have all NOS chrome for the car for when it gets painted, currently
